SHINE SA – A range of services including sexual health clinics, counselling, Hyde St. medical service, and more!
The Sexual and Gender Diversity section of the website has lots of links and resources listed including support for parents. SHINE SA offers counselling services at low/no cost and a mental health treatment plan from a doctor is NOT required.
SHINE SA also offers a rural Country SA contact service called Gender Connect Country SA. This service offers over the phone and webchat peer support for gender diverse people, those who are questioning their gender, parents and carers, and professionals seeking guidance.
Thorne Harbour Health (SA) – Thorne Harbour Health Adelaide is committed to ensuring that the communities we serve have the support they need to thrive in South Australia. This service includes a free Alcohol and Other Drugs program and a free LGBTQIA+ Mental Health Program (Mental Health Treatment Plan required from doctor).
Headspace – A youth mental health service offering face to face counselling at local centres or via their Eheadspace service which offers online and telephone support.
Metro Youth Health – Provides clinical health services to young people in the community aged 12 – 25 with a focus on young people under 18 years.
CAMHS – Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services is a free community-based mental health service provided through SA Health’s Women’s and Children’s Health Network across metro SA. They offer both therapeutic counsellors and psychiatrists.
SAMESH – SAMESH provides support, education and training about Sexual Health and HIV for men who have sex with men and people living with HIV, as well as services for the broader LGBTIQ community, in South Australia.
Sex Industry Network (SIN) – Promoting the health, rights and well being of South Australian sex workers. SIN is a peer Industry Network run by sex workers for sex workers.
Uniting Communities offers two programs.
Bfriend matches people on a short-term basis with a trained peer volunteer. They run groups, and can provide you with information and referrals. They can also offer workshops and training for other service providers. Their website also lists an event page, resource directory and news page.
Our Place provides free counselling at their office at 10 Pitt St, Adelaide for LGBTIQA+ Young people under the age of 25 and their loved ones. Counselling can be without the young person present if needed, and phone counselling is available.

Catalyst Foundation – Catalyst Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation and the leading provider of community information in South Australia. They connect people to services and provide free and independent information to all South Australians. They run social activities for LGBTIQA+ people over 50 and provide LGBTIQA+ inclusion & domestic violence training. Catalyst Foundation also established and maintains the Rainbow Directory SA and the LGBTIQA+ Digital Device Library, loaning ipads & tablets to our community members for free.
National Australia
Black Rainbow – Australia’s first, and only, National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (LGBQTI) Suicide Prevention National Advocacy Platform and National Touchpoint. We support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBQTI people who are homeless, leaving domestic violence relationships or the justice system. We are 100% Indigenous owned and operated.
National LGBTI Health Alliance provides research and resources on the health and lives of the LGBTI+ community in Australia.

Australian Transgender Support Association of Queensland – We provide support and information on all aspects of gender reassignment, for the general community and people who are experiencing difficulty with their gender identity.

New South Wales
The Gender Centre (NSW) – provides support to the transgender community as well as family members, partners and friends. Their website also has links to useful resources.
ACON (NSW) – provides language guides, reports, a health strategy advisory group for transgender and gender diverse people and more.
ACON also provide the resource TransHub.
TransHub is a digital information and resource platform for all trans and gender diverse (TGD) people in NSW, their loved ones, allies and health providers.
A Gender Agenda (NSW) is a community organization working in conjunction with the gender-diverse and intersex communities to educate, train, increase public awareness, advocate, and provide resources and information.
Victoria
Transgender Victoria (Vic)consults with the transgender community to create and conduct advocacy projects.
Zoe Belle Gender Collective (Vic)- An online not-for-profit seeking to provide support, training & resources for the Victorian trans and gender diverse community
Monash Gender Clinic (Vic) – The Gender Clinic is a state-wide service that accepts referrals for individuals who are aged 17 and above and reside in the state of Victoria.
Equinox – Equinox is a peer led Trans and Gender Diverse (binary and non-binary) Health Service operated by the Thorne Harbour Health, (THH).
Beyond Bricks and Bars – A peer-led, community project that provides direct support to trans and gender diverse people in prison, at risk of incarceration and those returning to their communities from prison.
Western Australia
Trans Folk of WA – TransFolk of WA is a support service for all transgender people and their loved ones in Western Australia. The organisation provides accessible safe spaces where members can expect dynamic peer support.
Freedom Centre (WA) – Freedom Centre is here to help support young people, families and whole communities to be healthy, happy and informed about diverse sexuality, sex and gender. We host drop in spaces which are safe spaces to hang out, have fun, meet other young people who are LGBTIQ+ and get peer-support and any information you may need.
Transforming Families – Transforming Families is an academic and community collaboration supporting parents of gender diverse children. Find research, resources and support for your family.
Discharged – In our support groups we are free to talk about, vent, sit with, or make sense of suicidal experiences, distress or the desire to die, without fearing hospitalisation or the police being called. There is a gender diverse specific group run by gender diverse facilitators.
Tasmania
Working it Out (Tas) – To provide support and education services responsive to and based on the lived experiences of LGBTI Tasmanians and their families. WIO also run the Being Proud project that provides information and resources for Tasmanian parents and families of young people who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Sexuality Diverse and Gender Diverse.
Northern Territory
Northside Clinic – Visiting doctors specialising in LGBTI health provide a 3-day clinic on a monthly basis to offer welcoming, high quality healthcare to members of the LGBTI community. This is a fully bulk-billed service with no cost to patients.
